Complaints Policy

Last updated: 15 July 2026 · Version 1.0

We deal with grievances for a living, so we take our own seriously. This page explains how to complain about Righted — our service, our platform, or how we've handled your personal information — and what happens when you do.

How to complain

Email complaints@joinrighted.com. Tell us what happened, when, and what outcome you're looking for. If your complaint is about privacy or your personal information, you can write to privacy@joinrighted.com instead — both routes reach the right person.

There is no charge, and complaining will never affect how your grievance or submission is treated on the platform.

What we'll do

  1. Acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days, with a reference number and the name of the person handling it.
  2. Investigate. We may contact you for more detail. If your complaint involves information shared with a consortium, we will find out exactly what was shared, when, and under what consent.
  3. Respond with our decision and reasons within 20 business days. If we need longer (for example, a complex privacy investigation), we will tell you why and give you a new date — never more than 45 days in total.
  4. Fix it. Where we got something wrong, we will say so and put it right — including correcting or deleting information, notifying any recipient of that information, and changing our processes so it doesn't recur.

If you're not satisfied

You can escalate at any time — you do not have to finish our process first:

  • Australia (privacy): Office of the Australian Information Commissioner — oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992.
  • New Zealand (privacy): Office of the Privacy Commissioner — privacy.org.nz, 0800 803 909.
  • Consumer issues: In Australia, your state consumer affairs body or the ACCC; in New Zealand, the Commerce Commission or Consumer Protection (consumerprotection.govt.nz).

Complaints about a consortium

If your complaint is about a litigation funder or law firm you've been connected with (rather than about Righted), we will help you route it: law firms are regulated by the legal profession body in their state or country, and we will give you the right contact. We also record these complaints — a pattern of complaints about a consortium affects whether we work with them again.

Records

We keep a register of complaints and outcomes for 7 years and review it quarterly to find and fix systemic issues.
